Mary Mayeski, a life-long resident of Benton, Illinois died on December 30th at the age of 103 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home. Mary is survived by her children Phyllis Rhodes of Marion, Ken Wilson of San Marcos, California; her grandchildren; Jim Rhodes of St. Louis, Missouri and granddaughter Christy Noblitt (Robert) of St. Louis, Missouri. She had 5 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Mike and Julia Dorchinecz, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She was married to Paul Wilson who was killed in a coal mining accident shortly after their marriage. She later married Stanley Mayeski. Mary had a strong love for her town of Benton. She enjoyed serving faithfully at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved planting flowers in her yard, walking with her friends, cooking and to polka dance. Most of all, she will be remembered for the way she loved her family. She will be greatly missed. We will have a visitation at 12:00 noon with a funeral following at 1:00 pm at Morton Johnston Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8th.
