January 3, 2024, Linda Jean (Johnston) Powell, 69, of Thompsonville, IL was softly and tenderly walked by her family in unity to the gates of her eternal heavenly home to be forever present with her Lord and King, Jesus Christ after a 4 year battle with Leukemia.
Linda worked various clerical positions through the years until finishing her degree at Rend Lake College to become a Medical Lab Technician.
Linda was born June 7, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, IL to George and Vernadeen (Shell) Johnston.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Rodney Powell, her son, Adam Powell, daughter, Jessica Powell (Brian Minton), grandson, Noah Minton, sister, Toni (Jim) Head.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, four sisters, Georiga Lynn Johnston, LouAnn Pierce, Kay Kranjak and Jo Schofield.
Services will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton, IL on Monday, January 15, 2024. Visitation will be from 11am – 1pm. Funeral service will be at 1pm with a private family only burial immediately following at the Masonic & Odd-Fellow Cemetery in Benton IL with Bro. John Odle & Rev. Eddie Paul Davis officiating.
