Jullius Gray Obituary

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Jullius Russell Gray (aka JR), loving husband, father, grandfather, and Korean Veteran, peacefully passed away at his home at the age of 86.

Jullius was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Austin and Rachel (Morris) Gray, along with three brothers: John, Lonnie, and Noel.

Jullius leaves behind his best friend and wife, Patty (Workman) Gray; his 2 surviving sons, Brett Gray of Benton, and Russell Gray of Virden; one stepdaughter, Emily (Stalorites) Reece, and husband Mike of Christopher; Daughter In-laws, Tina Gray of Marion, and Jean Gray of Mt. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great friends. JR especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren Braxten, Delany, Kaden, Josie, and Grayson Gray as they grew.  Grandkids, Brenden & Amanda Gray of St. Charles, MO; and Kelsi Gray of Pawnee, IL.

JR spent 35 years working as a proud union coal miner and was a member of the Masonic Sesser-Goode Lodge #744. He was an easy-going man, who loved to travel, spend time at local wineries, and loved to make others laugh with his endless supply of jokes. He will be dearly missed by many.

JR was preceded in death by his youngest son Craig A. Gray, grandson Tyler A. Gray, and great-grandson Cooper Dean Vaniter.

Per JR’s request, there will be a celebration of life held for immediate family members only.
