John "Hunior" Mocaby

JOHN “HUNIOR” MOCABY, 71, of Logan passed away at his home on Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2023.

He was born in St. Louis, MO. On July 23, 1952, the son of John Robert Mocaby Sr. & Ida Louetta (Melvin).  He married Mary (Tryba) on October 27, 1978.

Mr. Mocaby was a coal miner for over 20 years.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and trained bird dogs.  He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching sports.

Mr. Mocaby is survived by his:

Wife: Mary Mocaby of Logan

5 Children: Derek Mocaby (Alicia) of Benton

                     Sara Mocaby (Ryan) of St. Louis, MO.

                     Megan Webb (Aaron) of West Frankfort

                     John Robert Mocaby (Lynn) of Akin

                     Melanie Lones (William) of Yorkville

14 Grandchildren: Leyton, Cooper, Bryce, Keegan, Layla, Aaden, Evie, Zach, J.R., Wesley, Reece, Laura, Dalton and Jaxon.

Mr. Mocaby was preceded in death by his Parents & by a sister: Lynnette Camden. 

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. WEDNESDAY, Dec. 6th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Dean Severin officiating.  Visitation will be after 12 NOON on Wednesday at the funeral home.
