Jennie M. Conger 71
Benton – Jennie M. Conger, 71, passed away peacefully Monday night, April 3, 2023.
Jennie was born on May 23, 1951, in Galveston, Texas and was one of eight children of Stanley Campbell and Gloria Buse. She grew up a military brat as her dad was in the Air Force and they lived in Japan, Michigan, California and Washington.
Jennie gladly traveled the countryside with her husband Bruce during his 24 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. They lived in Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania (twice), Michigan, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and Washington before retiring in 2005 to be closer to her in laws.
She loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, talking on the phone with her sisters and brothers, connecting with long lost friends, making new friends wherever she went and trying out new recipes. Our mother was an amazing cook who rarely ever used a cookbook but knew her way around the kitchen. We are all going to miss her smile, laughter, advice but most of all the love she had for her family.
Jennie leaves behind 3 sisters: Betty, Charmane, and Lynda; 3 brothers: Bud, David and Craig; her 5 children Mylissa Conger (Jacob Owens) of Benton, Illinois; Nicole (Robert) Fagan of Canfield, Ohio; John (Jessica) Hober of Mcleansboro, Illinois; Stephanie Jackson of Tupper Lake, New York; Jauhnna Hober of Utah; 20 grandchildren, Brittney, Dakota, ShiAnne, Kaiden, Lee, Layney, Rachael, Samantha, Tessa, Alyssa, Christopher, Patty, Sarah, Paige, Payton, Rachea, Corey, Daniel, Kaeleb and Bethanie, 8 great grandchildren, Dayton, Kinzlee-Rose, Hunter, Audryanna, Everest, Daxton, Victoria and Creed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and a granddaughter.
Arrangements are entrusted to Morton & Johnson Funeral Home on South Main.
A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later time.
