Elbert Franklin (Bert) Mitchell passed away on July 30, 2021.

He was born on February 25, 1944 to Arzey and Hazel Mitchell of Stonefort, IL.

He married Sharon Olmsted on August 27, 1963 in Murphysboro, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years and 11 months, daughters Cindy (Ken) Wilson and Kathy (Jeff) Corey, son Ken (Melinda) Mitchell, sister-in-law Rhonda (Dennis) Thurman, grandchildren Luke (Kay) Wilson, Scott Mitchell, Sam Issler, Andrea (Josh) McCaherty, Kyle Mitchell, KJ (Kenzie) Wilson, Sadee Wilson, Kristen Corey, and Matt Corey, sister Vi (Ed) Malkowski, brother Gordon (Vicki) Mitchell, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Irene (John) Redwine, Betty (Eugene) Hoadley, Imogene (Jack) Pyle, brother Robert (Helen) Mitchell.

Bert Mitchell pastored several area churches for a combined total of over 40 years.

A celebration of life service is being planned for a later date.
