Bruce E. Conger 67
Benton – Bruce E. Conger, 67, passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 12, 2021 at his home.
Bruce was born on October 22, 1954 in Bangor, Maine and was the only child of William R. and Jerry L. Conger. He grew up all over the country, as his dad was in the Air Force. He graduated from Rancho High School on June 8, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. That same year, he was the heavy weight alternate in wrestling for the U.S. in the Olympics.
Bruce worked and retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after 24 years. Him and his family lived in Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania twice, Michigan, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and Washington before retiring in Benton in 2005 to be closer to his parents.
He loved hunting, his fur babies, Jr, Maxxi, Rosie and Sassy, spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and going to town to hang out with the boys.
Bruce leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 44 years Jennie Conger, whom he married on December 27, 1979, his daughter, Mylissa Conger (Jacob Owens) of Ewing, Illinois, Nicole (Robert) Fagan of Canfield, Ohio, John (Denise) Hober of Marengo, Illinois, 12 grandchildren, Brittney, Kaiden, Lee, Rachael, Samantha, Tessa, Alyssa, Christopher, Patty, Daniel, Kaeleb and Bethanie, 6 great grandchildren, Dayton, Kinzlee-Rose, Audryanna, Everest, Daxton, Victoria and Creed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Friday, November 19th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 11:00 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. on Friday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are entrusted to Morton & Johnston Funeral Home on South Main.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in honor of Bruce be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
