Brandon Kirk Obituary

Brandon Paul Kirk, of Sesser, IL passed away at home on June 28, 2024 on his 46th birthday.

I want the memory of Brandon Paul Kirk to be a great one. He was on this earth exactly 46 short years. I know his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was strong. We spent many times/hours talking about how he believed in his promises. I know with all of my heart he is sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ visiting, dancing & rejoicing with all of his loved ones including Grandpa Gino, Richard, Grandpa & Grandma Kirk, Uncle Tick, Uncle Wesley, Aunt Pat, Uncle Bobby, cousins Kirk & Becky, his friend Staggs, and many others.

Brandon leaves on this earth two children, Hunter Marie and Braxton Paul Kirk. His love for his children was unbelievable. He was very proud of the young adults they had become. He is also leaving behind his parents William Paul & Paula G. Kirk, his sister Angela Renea and husband Jim Czerwinski, his nieces Sierra and husband Quinton Kehrer, Jordan, Briley, & Avery, nephews Drexel & Sylas, great-nephew Browen Kehrer, Great Nieces Wailyn Czerwinski & Laikly Kehrer and Grandma Betty.

Brandon is terribly missed by his companion dog, Bowser. Bowser was always seen with Brandon. They hardly left each others side unless Brandon was at work. Bowser even attended family gatherings, but had to stay outside. If Bowser wasn’t riding in the back of Brandon’s truck, he would be in the front seat looking like his co-pilot. Family was very important to Brandon. He has several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends that will miss him dearly. Among these, Jeremy, Scott, and Kelly were more like brothers to him than cousins. They shared some of the same hobbies. Brandon mentored a lot of young adult men & women that might not have had a father figure or had lost their father at a young age. Brandon meant a lot to a lot of people. He could go anywhere and make new friends.

Starting as a young man Brandon worked in the coal mine industry. Brandon was employed with Foresight/Coal Field Repair (Seneca Rebuild). Brandon had met many people in this industry and had created strong bonds and friendships with over the years. He had the biggest heart. He would give his shirt off his very own back. He was one of a kind. He was one of those people that would drop what he was doing to help you. He enjoyed being the life of the party. If Brandon couldn’t make you smile no one could. He loved to dance, as our father square danced on the Grand Ole Opry. He was an avid hunter, loved riding horses, fishing, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Hunting was a very important part of his life. He started at a young age, continuing throughout high school, and years to follow. Brandon enjoyed being a part of the Sesser-Valier Outdoorsmen Club & Ducks Unlimited. He found joy in volunteering his time teaching and helping anyone that had any interest in hunting. In all things Brandon devoted his life in being there for and helping others.

Brandon struggled for the last several years trying to silence the demons he battled. Although it was a courageous fight, sadly he did not win. Our family is in deep pain and strongly encourages anyone battling depression to please seek help. Help from a medical provider, a counselor, or call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The same with alcoholism. If you drink to have a little fun is way different than drinking to numb the pain of life. Please talk to a medical provider or attend a local AA meeting.

Brandon’s final wishes was to be an organ donor and to be cremated with some of his ashes being spread near his favorite hunting spot on his family’s land. There will be no services at this time. The family has started making plans for Brandon’s Celebration of Life. It will take place at the Sesser VFW on September 21, 2024 starting at 12:00 P.M. Morton & Johnston Funeral Home is in charge of Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
