Betty Lou Hammond, 84, of Benton passed away Monday night March 2, 2020 at Stonebridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Benton.
She was born in Franklin County, IL on January 31, 1936 the daughter of Raymond & Ida (Launius) Akin.
She was a Sunday School Teacher for many years and served the Lord all her life.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by her:

Randy Edward Hammond of Alabama
Richard Dean Hammond & wife Edna of Percy
Danny Len Hammond & wife LaDonna of West Frankfort
Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren & Great-Great-Grandchildren
2 Brothers:
James Ray Akin of Benton
Gary Akin & wife Barbara of Benton
Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her Parents, by a Daughter-Sheila Kay Hammond, by a Son-George Marshall Hammond, by a Granddaughter-Malaha Augusta Hammond & by 4 Brothers-William Edward Akin, Cris Junior Akin, Leroy Akin & Clifford Akin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 5th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Pastor Chris Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery in Akin. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church, Sunday School Class.
