Josephine Robertson Obituary

Josephine Janet Rigo Robertson, December 31, 1915 to December 6, 2019

To know her was to love her and be loved by her.

Josephine Robertson died Friday, December 6, 2019, after a brief illness.  She was just three weeks shy of her 104th birthday.  Josephine is survived by her three children and their spouses, Bill Robertson (Dee), Marian Palmgren (Charlie) and Scott Robertson (Pam).  Her eight grandchildren, Mark Robertson (Theresa), Sami Stockton, Julie Riedel, David Robertson (Monica), Pattye Craig (Stan), Chuck Palmgren, Allyson Rines (David) and Sara Davis (Steve).  As well as fifteen great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.  Her dear husband of over 70 years, the love of her life, Brady Robertson died in 2003.

How do you cover more than a century in just a few paragraphs?  You can’t.  But we would like to share some things about this little woman who made such a big impact on those who knew her as well as those who met her.  Everyone who walked through her door was fed both physically and spiritually.  There was never a time, even when the cupboard was nearly bare, that she wasn’t able to give you something to eat with love.

How would you describe her?  She was the perfection of pie making (but she’d always made better).  She was the queen of quilting and the sweetest of seamstresses (and we are all the warmer for it).  She was the chief chicken fryer (and wringer of necks).  She was a grand gardener (and fed us all well).  She voraciously read volumes of books (and only burned one of them).  She was a glorious grandmother (although swift with the swatter!).  She was a huge hugger (“we hug in this family”).  She was a spellbinding storyteller (we hung on every word).  She was a resourceful recycler (nothing went to waste).  She was a passionate prayer warrior (and we are all the better for it).  She was a generous giver (of love, of time, of herself).  She was lovingly loyal (and loved us with her whole gizzard!).

Limitless love

Enduringly strong

Graceful

Kind

Truthful

Steadfast

Merciful

Unique, unapparelled

Wellspring of wisdom

I wish I could describe her for you, but she’s indescribable.

Whatever Kitty!

Well done, good and faithful servant!

Amen!!
