David Patrick Knight died unexpectedly on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born December 12, 1957 to Thera (Knight) Mosley and Ernest Charles Mosley in Benton, Il.
At the age of 6 he was adopted by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Jeraldine Knight. He was raised on the Knight farm; those 40 acres meant the world to him. Many happy hours were spent fishing in the pond and exploring the woods.
Born into a musical family, his musical gifts were many. As a professional musician he played several instruments and had a beautiful voice. His musical career included playing with Lori Morgan, and The Hammond Brothers in Nashville. His other artistic gifts included drawing, painting, poetry and composing.
David was fearless on his motorcycle, entertaining his nieces, nephews and cousins with rides along the country roads close to the family farm.
As his friend Cathy said, David was a beautiful soul. He shared his warmth and love with everyone.
David is survived by his mother, Thera Smith; children; Loren Morgan, Anna Menard, Claire Mocaby, and Jacob Knight; his granddaughters, Brenia, Kamera, and Zelda; dear companion, Cathy Laureano; and a large family who loved him dearly.
David’s niece, Thera Mare Runcis, once referred to him as “Mr. Fix It” due to his ability to fix anything, electronic or mechanical, just like his dad, Paul. David could fix anything but our broken hearts. Rest in sweet peace, David.
His family honored his wishes and donated his body to medical science.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Eagles Club in Benton on March 17, 2018, from 4 to 8 pm.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
